All Saints' Outreach Programs:

Outreach Programs, Discretionary Fund , Food Pantry & Disaster Assistance

Together with a dozen or more Roanoke Rapids' churches, All Saints' assists many people in need.  This is frequently performed by our church making a donation for rent or a utility and adding another church's donations to meet the needs of a community member who has come upon hard times.

At All Saints', plate offerings given on the first Sunday are designated for the Rector's Discretionary Fund.  The second, third and fifth Sunday offerings are used directly for outreach.  For each month a different outreach project is selected.  Some outreach gifts in the past have gone to the Episcopal Farm Worker's Ministry, Boys & Girls Club, Union Mission, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Children's Miracle Network, Hannah's House, Angel's Closet, Food for the Poor, and Episcopal Relief and Development.

Val Short is currently the chair of the committee.  The committee determines how the offerings will be given and are open to suggestions.  Members are Ginny Orvedahl, Pat Barnes, Mary Wellman, Richard Thiele and Bill Hodge.

Several All Saints' members assisted at Angel's Closet in January for their monthly "bag sale".  This was put together by Pat Barnes and members of All Saints' Daughters of the King.  They were joined by a volunteer group of students from the University of Maryland.  Gilbert Portela manages this outreach program and does a super job.  It was really an inspiring day!
